Why Do Animals Do That? (crabapple Series)

by Bobbie Kalman and Greg Nickles

With its colourful photographs and involving text, this picture book really rewards browsing. It features plenty of pictures, an attractive design, a large, readable typeface, a glossary, and an index. The text describes a variety of animal behaviours, such as migration, bioluminescence, hibernation, cannibalism, and more. Although the range of topics might limit its usefulness for research (since this book isn’t “about” any specific animal or topic), Why Do Animals Do That? is sure to be a big hit with youngsters interested in animal behaviour.
