The Molly Bear series is a charming collection of board books for babies and toddlers. Each book features simple, colourful illustrations showing familiar objects from Molly’s world, such as Molly’s spoon, bathtub, and doll. These books offer more than just attractive pictures; they actually create an opportunity for some fun. Each book follows a similar pattern: each of the first eight pages is devoted to one of Molly’s things. The final illustration is a two-page spread that shows Molly surrounded by all the objects from the previous pages. The text invites the reader to find each of Molly’s things in the final illustration. In addition, the text on the final page always starts with two “sound words,” such as “Splish! Splash!” or “Vroom! Vroom!”. It is easy to imagine a parent cuddled up with a little one laughing and shouting out the “sound words” and trying to find all of Molly’s things. As one might expect from the creators of Annikins, Annick has made these books just the right size for tiny hands. In addition, the right margin of these books is cut in a wavy pattern, which might help some young fingers to turn the pages. This is an excellent collection of board books that youngsters will really enjoy.
