The Writers’ Union of Canada is hiring a new editor for its quarterly members’ magazine, Write.
According to the job posting, the editor’s responsibilities include coordinating with TWUC’s volunteer editorial board on content and creative direction, and participating in a sensitivity review of each issue.
Hal Niedzviecki, Write’s former editor, resigned on May 10 amidst online protests and international attention for a controversial editorial calling for a “cultural appropriation prize” in an issue dedicated to Indigenous writers. On May 15, the TWUC National Council issued an apology for the offense, and stated its plans moving forward, including a review of the publication’s editorial processes.
