Rakuten Kobo announced the winners of its tenth Emerging Writer Prize, in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, and mystery. The genre fiction category alternates between mystery, romance, and speculative fiction.
The award carries a cash prize of $10,000 and promotional support from Kobo for each author.

Literary Fiction
Nothing Good Happens in Wazirabad on Wednesday by Jamaluddin Aram (Simon & Schuster)
Mystery
The Mythmakers by Keziah Weir (McClelland & Stewart)
The shortlists of six titles in each category were announced in April. The judges for the prizes were Robyn Doolittle for nonfiction, Jeannette Lynes for literary fiction, and Ashley Audrain for mystery.
