The Canada Council for the Arts has announced the 14 winners of the 2024 Governor General’s Literary Awards.
Winning writers, illustrators, and translators receive $25,000, while publishers receive $3,000 to promote the winning titles. Finalists, who were announced last month, each receive $1,000.
The English-language winners are:

- Scientific Marvel by Chimwemwe Undi (House of Anansi Press)
Drama
- There Is Violence and There Is Righteous Violence and There Is Death, or the Born-Again Crow by Caleigh Crow (Playwrights Canada Press)
Nonfiction
- Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre by Niigaan Sinclair (McClelland & Stewart/PRHC)

Finalists and winners were selected by category-specific peer assessment committees. Committees considered 1,529 nominated books this year. Eligible books were those published August 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
