Montreal writer and translator Aimee Wall has won the Max Margles Writing Residency.
The three-week residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in County Monaghan, Ireland, is facilitated by the Quebec Writers Federation.
Wall will head to Ireland in October 2024 to work on a novel about the housing crisis. She is the author of We, Jane (Book*hug, 2021), which was shortlisted for several prizes, including the 2022 Amazon Canada First Novel Award and the 2021 Paragraphe Hugh MacLennan Prize.
More than 60 writers applied for the residency. Wall was selected by a jury comprised of Heather O’Neill, Shannon Webb-Campbell, and Irish writer Kevin Curran.
This is the third year the residency was awarded. The previous winners were O’Neill and Tracey Waddleton.
