A group of Canadian publishing professionals gathered at Toronto’s Ben McNally Books on Feb. 29 to celebrate Simon & Schuster Canada editor Phyllis Bruce, who was recently appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada for her service to the industry and the country.
Bruce heads her own eponymous imprint at S&S Canada and has been a long-time member of the Canadian publishing landscape in various roles, including as publisher of Phyllis Bruce Books at HarperCollins Canada for two decades before her move to S&S.
S&S Canada president and publisher Kevin Hanson spoke to commend Bruce on the accolade, saying the appointment was “richly deserved” and thanking Bruce for her mentorship and continuing contributions to publishing.
