Toronto bookseller and author Lynn Thomson has been named winner of the 2015 Edna Staebler Award for creative non-fiction for her debut title, Birding With Yeats. (House of Anansi Press).
The memoir chronicles Thomson’s blooming relationship with her solitary teenage son as the two bonded during family bird-watching expeditions.
Thomson will be honoured at ceremonies at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus on Nov. 5 and at its Brantford campus on Nov. 6. She will also be recognized as a guest of honour at the The New Quarterly’s Wild Writers Literary Festival on Nov. 6 at Waterloo’s Centre for International Governance Innovation.
