Four years ago today, beloved writer, musician, and filmmaker Paul Quarrington died from cancer at the age of 56.

Soon, friends and fans will have a chance to pay homage to Quarrington in a new way. On Jan. 15, Toronto city council approved the naming of the Paul Quarrington Ice Rink/Splash Pad.

Located at Sherbourne Common, a new park on Toronto’s waterfront, the outdoor facility will be renamed “in honour of the contribution made by Paul Quarrington as a Canadian novelist, playwright, screenwriter, filmmaker, musician and educator.”

According to a spokesperson for the City of Toronto’s Parks, Forestry & Recreation department, staff are working closely with councillor Pam McConnell to develop signage and plan the opening ceremonies.
