The ninth annual New Brunswick Book Awards were presented at a live event on June 1 in Moncton, New Brunswick. The awards are administered by the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick (WFNB).
Lisa Alward won the Mrs. Dunster’s Award for Fiction for her short story collection Cocktail (Biblioasis). Cocktail was also longlisted for the 2024 Carol Shields Prize for Fiction.
Sara O’Leary was awarded the Alice Kitts Memorial Award for Excellence in Children’s Writing for The Little Books of the Little Brontës (Tundra). The book is illustrated by Briony May Smith.
Fawn Parker was named the winner of the Fiddlehead Poetry Book Prize for Soft Inheritance (Palimpsest Press) .
The Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick Nonfiction Award was awarded to Anne Koval for Mary Pratt: A Love Affair with Vision (Goose Lane Publishing).
The shortlists for the 2024 awards were announced in March.
Writers Donna Morrissey, Deborah Kerbel, Bertrand Bickersteth, and Madhur Anand served as judges for the prizes.
